Mercier Bridge repair - Closing of the Châteauguay-bound left lane from November 21 to 24

Nov 20, 2008 4:31:00 PM

LONGUEUIL, QC, Nov. 20 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) and the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) wish to inform the public that the Châteauguay-bound left lane on the Mercier Bridge will be closed from 11:59 pm on Friday, November 21, until 5:00 am on Monday, November 24. This closure will allow the contractor, the Mohawk Bridge Consortium (MBC), to continue repairing the connection plates.

The contractor will take advantage of this temporary closure to complete specific repairs that require closing one lane to traffic. Truck traffic restrictions already announced will continue over the coming weeks in order to complete other planned repair work. Some lane closures, such as that announced today, are still planned between now and the holidays.

The work is being executed under the bridge structure and will not be visible to users. These operations are essential to the ongoing repair work to the bridge and the subsequent replacement of its deck.
